At your dock

The boat stays. The work travels.

Hauling a boat to fix its seats is the tax this trade always charged, and mobile service deletes it. We pattern at your dock, slip or driveway, sew at the bench on marine machines and return to fit the finished pieces where the boat lives. Dock-kept pontoons never touch a trailer, moored runabouts never leave the water and the visits ride free with any job on the published cost guide.

Why the split model wins

Good marine sewing needs machines, rollers and cutting tables that live on a bench, and good assessment needs hands on the actual boat. The mobile model honors both: the boat-side visits carry the judgment work, squeeze-testing foam, checking pontoon bases, patterning to the real furniture rather than a catalog diagram, and the bench carries the craft work of cutting and stitching marine vinyl with UV-rated thread. What never happens is the part owners hate: arranging a trailer, burning a Saturday at the ramp and leaving the whole boat captive at a shop for weeks to fix four cushions.

The visit sequence, plainly

  1. 1

    Photos first

Most quotes settle from pictures against the public table before any visit happens.

  2. 2

    Patterning visit

Under an hour for most boats: tests, measurements, sample books in daylight and the failing pieces pulled.

  3. 3

    Bench weeks

Cutting and sewing at the shop bench. In season plan on two to four weeks; winter runs faster and cheaper.

  4. 4

    Fitting visit

Finished pieces installed at the boat, corners pulled true, hardware remounted and the old pieces hauled away unless you want them.

Mobile service questions, answered

What do you actually do at the boat versus at the bench?

At the boat: assessment, foam squeeze tests, base checks, patterning and pulling the pieces that need work, then later the fitting and installation. At the bench: the cutting and sewing, because marine sewing machines and material rolls do not belong on a dock. The split gives you shop-quality stitching without shop logistics.

Is my boat unusable while the pieces are at the bench?

Mostly no. On multi-piece jobs we stage the pulls so the boat keeps functional seating between visits, and single-seat jobs leave everything else in place. A full interior is the exception, and we schedule those for windows when the boat was resting anyway.

Which locations count as the jobsite?

Docks, marina slips, boat lifts, storage yards, driveways and club properties across the metro. Marina work follows each marina’s vendor rules, which we handle, and gate codes plus a slip number cover most of the scheduling questions.

What does mobile service cost compared to a shop?

The patterning and fitting visits ride free with any job on the published table, so mobile costs you nothing extra against shop work. What it saves is the trailering: launching, hauling and two round trips for every shop visit, which for dock-kept pontoons is the difference between doing the seats and putting them off another year.

Pontoons get the most from dock-side work, and the pontoon page covers that whole trade. North Little Rock Boat Upholstery schedules dock visits across the metro every week.
